How to identify whether a copper bracket or an iron bracket in the LEDs

The bracket is one of the most important components in SMD LED. The copper bracket has high thermal conductivity and heat dissipation, which is not easy to rust. The electrical conductivity of the iron bracket is poor, the heat dissipation is low relative to copper, and it is easy to oxidize and rust.

Many people think that magnets can be used to distinguish between iron brackets and copper brackets. In fact, there are two plating materials for the copper brackets, silver and nickel. This method will not work because nickel is attracted by a magnet

Copper has good thermal conductivity and heat dissipation ability, but it is easy to be corroded in the damp environment. Silver is used to increases the adhesion between the chip and the bracket. Moreover, due to the silver is a highly reflective material, the silver-plated layer is able to reduce light loss and increases reflection. Nickel is an approximately silver-white, hard and malleable material that is highly polished and resistant to corrosion and reduces undesirable reactions such as vulcanization. Therefore, it can be used in the copper brackets to prevent copper from migrating to the silver, and increase the strength of the brackets.

Therefore, the best way to identify the materials of the brackets is breaking the bracket. If the cross-section is purple and red, it is the copper bracket. If the color is silver and gray, it is the iron bracket.
